Let me also paint an analogy for users who may not know much about how a smart contract works in this case;

Mr. A chats Mr. B on the platform for the purpose of getting his services, they both agree on a price. Let’s say it for building a website, Mr. A deposits funds in the escrow and outlines the features he wants on his website which Mr. B has confirmed he can deliver. The escrow system will only release the funds to Mr. B after Mr. A has confirmed receipt of his website.

This way, Mr. A is not scared of being scammed and Mr. B is certain to be paid after service delivery.

Obviously this solves a lot of trust issues and eliminates fraud and scams to a great extent. This also affects everyone who renders or procures services.
